Easter is one of our favourite times of the year. The weather's finally getting warmer and there's a long bank-holiday to look forward to. It's also a great season for delicious food.
Whether you’re heading to an Easter church service or joining loved ones for a day of fun, Easter is traditionally a time for get-togethers and celebration. And however you choose to celebrate, we’re sure Easter also means enjoying delicious food and chocolatey treats. So, gather friends and family and get ready for some Easter fun.
Eggs with Everything
Of course, Easter wouldn’t be complete without eggs. And with more time to enjoy a lazy breakfast or brunch, you can start the Easter weekend with your favourite egg dishes. Poached, scrambled, boiled or fried; we all have our favourites. But for something a bit more special, try homemade French toast – a delicious dish made of bread soaked in eggs and milk, then fried and topped with sugar and cinnamon.
Follow the Rabbit
On Easter Sunday, it’s all about the chocolate eggs. But rather than just handing them out, why not arrange an Easter Egg Hunt? Cut out Easter Bunny footprints to lead the kids to the hiding place. If you’re feeling really creative, you could draw a treasure map leading to the chocolatey goodies.
If you’re planning a festive lunch over Easter, you’ll find plenty of inspiration in our range at Costcutter. Here we’ve got fresh British meat – perfect for roasting, plus a great selection of seasonal veg. For pud, keep things traditional with a delicious crumble or serve a rich chocolate cake to keep the chocoholics happy.
Looking for ways to entertain the kids over the Easter holidays? Then keep them busy with a spot of festive baking. Easy choices include Easter biscuits; simply make a basic biscuit recipe and use Easter-inspired cutters (think rabbits, chicks and eggs) before decorating. Or for something even easier, go for Easter nests – melted chocolate, cereal and sweeties, it’s the seasonal classic kids love.
If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, you could have a go at making your own hot cross buns. They are easier to make than you might expect and of course, taste delicious smothered in plenty of butter.
Whatever you choose to eat, make, and do this Easter; we hope you enjoy every moment!
